Jailer 2: Rajinikanth wraps up shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar’s action drama, cuts cake with crew; view photos

Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is expected to release on the big screens in mid-2026. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel recently completed its shooting on April 21, 2026, with the superstar celebrating the occasion by cutting a cake with the entire team.

Taking to social media, Rajinikanth announced the completion of his upcoming sequel action drama, Jailer 2. The team also shared pictures from the set after filming ended, along with the caption: “Alapparai Kelappuram, Thalaivaaru Nerandharam! (Let’s increase the hype, our Thalaivar is forever!) This is the finale of Jailer 2.”

Jailer 2 has an upcoming sequel starring Rajinikanth Starring Nelson in the lead role and directed by Dilipkumar. The action-comedy film will see the superstar reprising the role of “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian.

The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu in lead roles. Mohanlal and Shiv Rajkumar are also set to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Earlier there were speculations that Shahrukh Khan will make a cameo in it. However, due to his commitments to King, the actor reportedly declined the offer. While reports suggest that Pawan Kalyan may step in for the role, no official confirmation has been made.

Recently, Jailer 2 became the talk of the town after a clip from the film was leaked online. The producers advised viewers not to repost the scenes to avoid possible account ban or suspension.

Rajinikanth’s work front

Rajinikanth is expected to be next seen in a tentatively titled film thalaivar173. The project was initially announced to be directed by Siby Chakraborty. However, recent reports suggest that there may be a change in direction, with Ashwath Marimuthu possibly taking over. There is no official confirmation yet.

The film was originally planned with Sundar C in the lead, but he later backed out of the project.

Looking ahead, a tentatively titled project with superstar Kamal Haasan is also set to feature in KHXRK Reunion.
