Indian musician and singer-songwriter Jasleen Royal traded her musical instruments for a cricket ball, completing a heart-touching full-circle journey from being a passionate childhood cricket lover to sharing the pitch with the Indian women’s cricket team.
Jasleen Royal joins Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues in Women’s T20 World Cup campaign: “An absolute dream come true”
The special event was organized after a viral social media video showcasing Royal’s pacey leg-spin bowling skills caught the attention of BCCI and JioStar. Recognizing her dual talent, the organizations extended a special invitation to Jasleen Royal for an interactive athletic session and live performance with national cricket icons Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues.
The session began with Royal having an intimate behind-the-scenes conversation with Kaur and Rodriguez. The stars bridged the gap between their respective industries, discussing the shared dedication, high-pressure mentality and global cultural impact that define both international entertainment and top-level athletics.
Moving from conversation to the pitch, Royal demonstrated his true playing ability by bowling full six-ball overs to both world-class batsmen. Displaying authentic leg-spin technique, precise control and sharp delivery variations, the multi-platinum artist impressed professional athletes with his athletic abilities.
Concluding the show by returning to her musical roots, Royal performed an intimate live set for the entire Indian contingent. They delivered a soulful rendition of their recently released track, Reward, as well as their massively streamed Diamond, creating a high-energy festival atmosphere for the roster.
Royal has consistently used her global platform to advocate for the advancement of the women’s game, often highlighting the team’s achievements to her millions of followers during major international tournaments. To honor this organic fan, the Indian team presented her with an official, team-signed jersey of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The final validation came directly from the team leadership after a head-to-head encounter on the field. Very impressed with the consistency of her bowling, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and star batsman Jemimah Rodrigues invited Royal to travel with the team to the United Kingdom to support their upcoming campaign at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Jasleen Royal says, “It is absolutely a dream come true. Long before I picked up a guitar, my biggest childhood dream was to become a competitive cricketer.”
