Film, also known as The India Story: Slow poison in progressFocuses specifically on the consequences of chemical misuse in pesticide farming and related controversies. According to the producers, the story moves from one family’s struggle to addressing a broader public health and safety issue.
Sharing the inspiration behind the project, producer Sagar B Shinde said, “We decided to tell this story because it reflects a reality that often goes unnoticed but that impacts the lives of countless people across the country. The misuse of chemicals, especially pesticides in farming, is not just an environmental concern, it is a humanitarian crisis. Through this film, we hope to raise awareness and start meaningful conversations about accountability and change.”
The makers say the film aims to combine socially relevant subject matter with a dramatic narrative highlighting concerns around industrial negligence and regulatory accountability.
Director Chetan DK also talked about the making of the film and the performances of the lead actors. He said, “From the crew to the cast, every member of the team has shown immense dedication in bringing authenticity to this story. Kajal and Shreyas have given incredibly nuanced performances, and their commitment really elevated the film. We have worked hard to ensure that the story remains both engaging and impactful.”
The India Story It also marks the first on-screen collaboration between Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade. The pair is expected to bring a new dynamic to the film’s intense and issue-based story.
The project is backed by co-producers Sumit Bagde, Anita Jadhav, Vinayak Saidani, Kalpesh Shah, Devyani Khorate and Prem Joshi. The technical team includes cinematographer Nishant Bhagwat, music composer Mangesh Dhakade, editor Ashish Mhatre, lyricist Shakeel Azmi and sound designer Anmol Bhave.
The film is scheduled to be released worldwide in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on July 24 by Zee Studios.
