Kantara: Chapter 1 (Hindi) performed strongly on Wednesday, down only about 5% from its first Monday. It collected Rs 7.50 crore nett on day 7, taking the total to Rs 94 crore nett at the Hindi box office. The typical drop from Monday to Wednesday after the introduction of Discounted Tuesday has been around 20 to 25 percent.
Although the film had a disappointing opening, it picked up nicely over the weekend. Kantara: Chapter 1 continues strongly on weekdays, which shows that the audience’s appreciation is there. The extended opening week is expected to end around Rs 101 crore approximately. but more importantly, the week will end with around Rs 7 crore net per day, which will provide a strong base for the second week.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is open until Diwali 2025 release
There’s no major news next week, so its second Friday should continue with a similar strong hold. If it continues to perform on expected lines, the Rishab Shetty starrer will add Rs 50 crore in the second week, pegging it at Rs 180 crore to Rs 190 crore nett in the Hindi finale.
The film will have another open weekend in the third week and then the Diwali period will begin. There will be strong competition from Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat after Lakshmi Puja day, but we have seen persistence with well-sustained reception even after the new releases in recent years. Kantara: Chapter 1 can also manage this and depending on how it utilizes the Diwali week, it could even hit the Rs 200 crore net mark.
Backed by Hombale Films, Kantara: Chapter 1 has already crossed the lifetime collections of its previous installment in the Hindi belt. The Rishab Shetty starrer is unaffected by its rival release, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
