Kantara: Chapter 1 (Hindi) performed well at the box office on second Monday. The film made a net collection of Rs 4.50 crore. This represents a decline of 35 percent from its second Friday and 45 percent from last Monday, both solid holdings. The total net collection of the film now stands at Rs. 140.50 crores.
The second week for the Rishabh Shetty starrer has now earned Rs. has been estimated. 51-52 crores. This will be more than Rs. 150 crore nett figure before the end of the second week. On its first day, this number seemed like it would be a somewhat optimistic lifespan. However, the film has fared much better since then, avoiding major declines on weekdays and seeing decent growth on weekends or holidays. Now, Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to reach around Rs. Net earning of around Rs 200 crore, however it will need to have good collections during the Diwali period and beyond. The way it’s stood so far, it’s not too optimistic to expect that to happen.
A section of business expectations were high, as many were expecting it to perform like other South Indian breakout films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2 and Pushpa 2. However the business buzz was not entirely unfounded as the first film had a gravity-defying performance, earning Rs. Net earning of Rs 1.25 crore on the first day. More than 80 crore net final. However, at the end of the day, it was just conversation. Still, these are excellent numbers for a period drama film that has no star value.
