Producer Vipul Amritlal Shah has said this The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond Does not target Kerala state or its people. His comments came after the Kerala High Court Division Bench lifted the interim stay on the film’s release on Friday, February 27, paving the way for its theatrical release.
Kerala Story 2 producer Vipul Shah says the final verdict of the Kerala HC division bench is the “biggest proof of the veracity of the film”.
Addressing the media soon after the court’s decision, Shah said the legal hurdle has been cleared and screening has begun. He described the film as a “true” story made after much effort and rejected allegations from some quarters that it promotes propaganda.
He said, “The Kerala High Court Division Bench has withdrawn the stay we got yesterday. And they have cleared the way for the release of the film. Now our shows have started opening. So I request people that this is a true film made with a lot of hard work. And the biggest proof of the truthfulness of our film is that the Kerala Court has lifted the stay order. If our film was false, the Kerala Court would have seen it and the stay order would not have been lifted.”
Shah thanked the court on behalf of his team and appealed to the Kerala audience to watch the film with an open mind. Emphasizing that neither he nor his team have any prejudice against the state – often referred to as ‘God’s own country’ – he said the intention behind the project was not to defame Kerala.
With the ban lifted, the focus has now shifted to the release plans of the film in theatres. The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond It stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in lead roles.
An official update on its wider theatrical rollout is awaited.
