The highly anticipated animated film Mahavatar Narsimha has finally arrived on OTT. Netflix confirmed that the mythological epic is now in streaming from September 19 at 12:30 p.m. in several languages, including Telugu. The film, directed by the filmmaker of Kannada Ashwin Kumar, is based on the Avatar Narasimha of Lord Vishnu and has already established several records at the box office.

Netflix India announced the release of the film via social media on Thursday, September 18. Sharing the poster on X (formerly Twitter), the streaming platform wrote: “The roar of this lion can overturn a kingdom. Look at Mahavatar Narsimha, September 19, 12:30 p.m. on Netflix.”
The film had an RS budget. 40 crosses and collected RS 60.5 crosses in just 8 days. It lasted more than 50 days in theaters and crossed Rs. 300 crores in the world, making it the most profitable Indian animated film in a short time, according to Hindustan Times.
What is the story of Mahavatar Narsimha?
The film tells the well -known story of Hiranyakashipu, the demon king who received a boon from Lord Brahma: “No creature that you have created, at any time, should threaten his life with a weapon.” With this power, Hiranyakashipu declared himself a sovereign of the three worlds. However, his son Prahlada became a great devotee of Lord Vishnu, which made him angry further.
The film shows how hiranyakashipu tried to kill Prahlada, how Lord Vishnu protected his devotee, and under what circumstances the Avatar Narasimha was born. The culminating point depicts the death of hiranyakashipu in the hands of Narasimha, filling the divine prophecy.
Director Ashwin Kumar described the film as more than a simple animation project. Speaking of Hindustan Times, he said: “I believe that there was a void of our ethnic, cultural and heritage stories coming on the big screen, which they really deserve. But in one way or another, these films were not made to be visible on this kind of range.
He added: “I think it is our burden as creators, as producers, as directors, to really give birth. Because it is not only a film, it is the echo of our ancestors and our land and our history. It must be brought back, so that the virtues are really integrated into the generations. ”
Beginning of the Mahavatar cinematic universe
Supported by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films, Mahavatar Narsimha is not an autonomous project. This is the first episode of the Mahavatar cinematic universe in seven parts, based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu.
The upcoming titles of the franchise include Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh (2031), Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033) and Mahavatar Kalki (2035-2037).
For those who have missed the theatrical release, Mahavatar Narsimha is now available on Netflix, giving the public the world the possibility of living the most successful animated film in India.
