In an interview with Variety India, Gulati said that his father repeatedly asked about the release of the film during the last months of his life. Gulati said, “He kept asking me ‘when will your puja come’ and I kept telling him. But it didn’t happen.”

The director further claimed that the film’s co-producer, Amar Kaushik, has not responded to his calls or messages since October 2025. He said, “I’m tired of calling and messaging and still getting no response. The only reason I’m letting this out to the world is because they refuse any kind of accountability.”

The film was originally commissioned as an OTT release and was set to stream on JioCinema. However, after the platform merged with Disney+Hotstar, the makers were reportedly informed that they may consider selling the film on other platforms.

Gulati alleged that the production house, Maddock Films, was demanding higher prices. While he said he understood the business considerations, he questioned why alternative release strategies were not being considered.
