On Sushant Singh Rajput coverage

The conversation started with Lalwani mentioning Rawal’s decision to stay away from news channels during the COVID-19 lockdown. Rawal blamed his health for his decision, saying, “Mera to BP ki due bhai” (In my case, it was because of my blood pressure, brother).

Lalwani then pointed to the extensive television coverage surrounding Rajput’s death in Mumbai on June 14, 2020, highlighting how the case had turned into a media spectacle during the lockdown. Rawal responded candidly by saying, “Sushant Singh wala jo circus tha woh toh aayi bloody hate it” (As far as the circus around Sushant Singh is concerned, I bloody hated it).

Why did he distance himself from politics

Rawal also reflected on his brief stint in politics, having served as the BJP MP from Ahmedabad East after winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Citing workload and frequent travel, he admitted that the reality of the job did not match his expectations.

“I left because it was not my job” (I left because it was not my job), he said, adding that he had entered politics only for a limited purpose and saw it as a noble profession that required full commitment.

He further added that he has finally decided to return to acting, a craft he has spent decades perfecting, saying, “Abhi yeh samjh lo mera shilp ke upar thoda bhoo control aaya hai” (Finally I have gained some control over my art).

fear of losing your integrity

Rawal explained that one of his biggest concerns while in politics was making promises that he could not keep, because of his limited understanding of how the system worked. He said, “I am a liar, I will lie 2-3 times. From within me I am becoming a liar.” (I’ll keep saying, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, after doing it two or three times, I’m lying. I’ll become a dishonest person.), he said, adding that repeating it would harm his art as an actor.

After withdrawing from politics, Rawal has continued to focus on his acting career. On the work front, he was last seen Welcome to the jungle.
