The lawyer claimed that Pooja Entertainment had taken back the audio rights of its songs from Tips. “Music companies buy music rights from producers,” he said. “As per our earlier agreement with Pooja Entertainment, only the audio rights were given. In 2018, Tips had sent us an email asking for the visual rights of the song as well. At that time, Vashu ji replied to them and things did not work out. Then Pooja Entertainment sent him a notice saying that they are canceling the agreement as they have not followed the terms related to royalty and other things. Therefore, Pooja Entertainment at that time gave away all the rights. So, leave aside the video rights, Pooja Entertainment had even canceled the audio rights.”
Dubey alleged that Tips also continued to exploit song sequences from Pooja Entertainment’s films. “They (TIPS) should have gone to some court after these rights were revoked,” he said. “You didn’t go and you continued using the music. Not just the audio, but they continued streaming the songs on YouTube, Instagram and other platforms.”
