According to reports, the matter came up before the Bombay High Court, where Santosh Kumar’s legal representative said that the filmmaker will refrain from speaking publicly about the controversy going forward. Instead, he will rely on the proper legal channels to address his concerns. It was also suggested on his part that the earlier comments were not specifically targeted at Aditya Dhar. However, the court noted that it may be challenging to implement such an assurance in a broader sense, but decided to formally record Kumar’s commitment to avoid any statement that could be viewed as defamatory.
On the other hand, Aditya Dhar’s legal team insisted on a public apology over the earlier allegations. His lawyer argued that publicly accusing someone of wrongdoing could have serious implications and said an apology would be appropriate in the circumstances. However, Kumar’s side did not agree and said that they believed they had sufficient grounds to support their claims and hence would not apologize at this stage.
With this, the court decided to close the interim petition, while clearly stating that no further controversial or potentially harmful comments should be made by Santosh Kumar in future.
