In an interview, Joshi clarified that although he is hopeful that a sequel will be made, he has not received any official confirmation. Responding to rumors about the next chapter, he told Hindustan Times, “I hope it will happen, but I have not been informed yet.” He said a similar discussion had come up before, but it turned out to be unrelated.
“On more than a few occasions, there has been discussion that 3 idiots A sequel is being made. The last time the report came, it was revealed that it was for an advertising campaign. Let’s see, hopefully it’s true this time.” When asked if he knew that the story would pick up from where the original story ended, Joshi admitted that he didn’t have any details yet. Referring to director Rajkumar Hirani, writer Abhijat Joshi and co-star Aamir Khan, he said, “I am not in a position to know, but only Master, Raju sir, Abhijat (Joshi, writer) sir and Aamir will work on it, if there is a possibility.”
Joshi also shared a light-hearted memory from his audition days, in which he recalled how he came to know about playing the role of Raju. He said he was working out at the gym when Hirani called with the final news, joking that the director had told him not to expect to see his gym body for three years. “I think of 3 idiotsAnd a smile appears on my face.
