Producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed this mother 2Sequel to the 2017 film MotherHas gone to the floor. The project is being shot at the newly inaugurated International Film City along the Yamuna Expressway near Greater Noida, making it the first film to begin production at the facility.

Speaking to ANI, Kapoor shared information about the sequel. The film is directed by Girish Kohli, who previously wrote Mother. Kapoor is producing this project with his partner Akshay Puri. The cast includes Bengali actors Jisshu Sengupta and Karishma Tanna in lead roles.
“Shooting of mother 2 going on here. The director is Girish Kohli, who was the writer of Mom I. The producers are me and my partner Akshay Puri. The action director is South’s Vijayan. He is one of the most accomplished action directors. We have technicians from different locations. We have an actor from Bengal, Jisshu. We have Karishma Tanna, a television and film actress, who is playing a very important role in the film,” Kapoor said.
First film in International Film City
mother 2 This is the inauguration ceremony of the International Film City being developed along the Yamuna Expressway. At the inaugural press conference, Kapoor outlined his broad vision for the project.
“Our endeavor is to ensure that it (Film City) is different and expansive in every sense. Apart from the Film City, it will have a theme park. It will have a lot of entertainment sections. Which will probably surprise many people. All kinds of films, OTTs, dramas, television, serials. We will create podcast sets. Everything. There will also be a media center here. So the base of everything related to entertainment and media will be here.”
Kapoor also announced that OTT projects will be allowed to shoot for free on a specific set currently present in the Film City. When asked about the initiative, he clarified, “Yes, but only on this set. That’s because this set is good luck. It’s an encouragement for other producers and for us, the more people can benefit from it, the more people will come and there will be more buzz about this Film City. Everyone will know that the Film City has started here.”
