The film Thanal starring Atharva Murali in the lead role was released in theaters on September 12, 2025. After the theatrical release, the film is now all set to debut on OTT. Here are the streaming details.
When and where to see Thanal
Thanal is scheduled to release on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video, and will start streaming from October 17, 2025. This was announced by the film’s cinematographer, Shakthi Saravanan, through his social media handle.
Sharing the update, he wrote, “Blockbuster thriller #Thanaal is all set to stream on @PrimeVideoIN from 17th October.”

Thanal is the story of an ex-army man who seeks revenge against the police officers who killed a gang of bank robbers, including his brother, in a 2016 encounter.
On his first night on duty, a rookie police recruit finds himself caught in the middle of this vendetta and uncovers a multi-bank robbery perpetrated by a vengeful outsider. The film tracks Recruitment’s journey as he goes through this dangerous situation, attempting to stop the antagonist, while also dealing with collateral damage, including a woman named Anu, who is taken as leverage.
Whether the newbie manages to save the day or not forms the crux of the story.

Thanal stars Atharvaa Murali in the lead role, with Lavanya Tripathi and Ashwin Kakumanu in the co-leads. The film stars Shah Ra, Barani, Dilipan, Selva, Azhagam Perumal, Bose Venkat, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, Yogi Babu and many others in lead roles.
Notably, the film marks the first appearance of Ashwin Kakumanu as an antagonist.
Written and directed by Ravindra Madhav, the film has music and background score by Justin Prabhakaran. With Sakthi Saravanan handling the cinematography and Kalaivannan serving as editor, Thanal received mixed-to-negative reviews upon its theatrical release.
Atharva Murali’s upcoming movie
Atharva Murali is currently shooting for the period political drama Parashakti, co-starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is based on true events that took place in Tamil Nadu in 1965.
The film starring Sreeleela in the lead role is scheduled to release on January 14, 2026, on the occasion of Pongal.
