Following the hugely successful run of The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, producers have confirmed the release of a sequel film focusing on the Euphoria star’s character. The original film grossed a staggering US$400 million at the global box office, a stunning jump from its comparatively low US$35 million budget. A newly planned sequel will now hit theaters during the 2027 Christmas season.
The Housemaid’s Secret confirms December 17, 2027 release
Able to earn more than half its cost in the opening weekend, grossing US$19 million, The Housemaid became a hit in the following days due to its simplicity. The studio behind the film, Lionsgate, has managed to announce a sequel, aiming for a few years of production before hitting screens in 2027. As per the latest reports, The Housemaid’s Secret will release on December 17, 2027.
Along with its release date, the erotic psychological thriller film is set to clash with Avengers: Secret Wars and Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The new film will see the return of Sidney Sweeney as a housekeeper named Wilhelmina “Milly” Calloway. Michele Morrone will also reprise his role as Italian groundskeeper Enzo Accardi from the original. Kirsten Dunst will be joining the cast.
The sequel will focus on Millie getting a new job at the Garrix’s luxurious Manhattan residence after her stint with the Winchesters led to a major situation she was on the run from. Douglas and Wendy Garrick are a private couple, the only rule of his appointment is that he is not allowed to meet Wendy at all. His promise to help the Penthouse Woman goes as far as uncovering a secret that is more sinister than he expected. It will also follow the best-selling novel by Frieda McFadden.
