In the new season, Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi, played by Barun Sobti, leaves Jagrana and gets transferred to Dalerpura police station. In his new posting, Garundi works under a different commanding officer – Dhanwant Kaur, played by Mona Singh. Though their temperaments and approaches may differ, both officers are driven by an unwavering commitment to solving cases, even at the risk of unresolved personal histories coming to light.

Created and written by Gunjeet Chopra, Diggi Sisodia and Sudeep Sharma, Kohra Season 2 brings a fresh affair rooted once again in the chilly, wintry landscape of Punjab. The setting continues to play an important role in the narrative, where silence, restraint and atmosphere often reveal more than direct confessions.

The second season also marks a significant creative shift for the series. The show’s creator and showrunner Sudeep Sharma is stepping into the director’s shoes for the first time with Faisal Rehman. Reflecting on returning to the world of Kohra, Sharma said, “It’s quite exciting to be back. Season 1 has allowed us to explore the quiet tension between people, between the past and the present. This season too, we have tried to bring out as authentic a portrayal of Punjab as possible with characters rooted in the universal reality that we have seen across the country. The show is an emotional roller-coaster. Barun and Mona have done a fantastic job, and I can’t wait for people to see it themselves.” See.”

Produced by A Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three, the series is backed by producers Saurabh Malhotra, Sudeep Sharma, Manuj Mitra and Tina Tharwani. According to Tanya Bami, series head, Netflix India, the show’s appeal lies in its restrained storytelling. He said, “The Fog is our cult classic that has won numerous awards, love and accolades from audiences and critics. What makes it unique is its honest simplicity, the simple backdrop that exposes deeper layers of complexity as the fog lifts episode by episode.” Talking about the new season he said, “Set in a new city against the backdrop of a new crime and a new partnership, S02 is even more interesting.”

With Mona Singh joining the franchise in a layered new role and Barun Sobti returning as Garundi, Season 2 promises to be a haunting continuation of the noir tone of the series. As the investigation progresses, the show once again explores the intersection of crime, memory, and personal reckoning – suggesting that the most dangerous truths may not always lie at the crime scene.

The Fog Season 2 will begin streaming on February 11, exclusively on Netflix.
