Anyone active on social media and immersed in the internet culture of the early 2010s will always remember how Dhanush 3’s song Why This Kolaveri D went viral on the internet. Now, after more than a decade, the iconic film is all set to re-release in theaters worldwide on February 6, 2026.
3 Re-release: Dhanush and Shruti Haasan starrer to release on the big screen once again before Valentine’s Day
In an official update, the film’s music label Sony Music South India has announced that the film will re-release in theaters this year. The label wrote, “Brace yourself for the re-release of 3 The Movie worldwide on February 6th. Trailer drops tomorrow at 5:04 pm. Stay tuned.”

3 is a romantic musical psychological thriller starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles. The film, the directorial debut of Aishwarya Rajinikanth, tells the story of high school lovers Ram and Janani, whose romance turns tragic when Ram takes his own life.
Unable to understand the loss, Janani delves deeper into the internal struggles endured by her husband due to bipolar disorder, reliving their journey from falling in love as children to building a life together.
Apart from the lead actors, the film stars Prabhu, Sivakarthikeyan, Sundar Ramu, Bhanupriya, Jeeva Ravi, Rohini, Gabriella Charlton, Sunita Gogoi, Sumathi Sri, Badava Gopi and many others in lead roles.
The film, written by Aishwarya herself, received mixed reviews upon initial release. However, over the years, it has developed a cult following among Tamil cinema fans.
3 also marked Anirudh Ravichander’s debut as a music composer, with Velraj handling the cinematography and Kola Bhaskar serving as editor.
Dhanush’s next film
Dhanush will next be seen in the lead role in Kara directed by Por Thozil fame Vignesh Raja. This emotionally driven action thriller is said to revolve around a man torn between virtue and sin, who has to protect his family from the consequences of his actions.
Along with Mamita Baiju in the co-lead role, the film also stars Karunas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jayaram and others in lead roles.
