The film saw its best growth in Mumbai and southern circuits on Saturday, following a low on the opening day. The latter is a Sunday market and should experience further growth today. In the south, Mysore was up nearly 50 per cent.
The northern circuit continued to perform strongly, with large urban centers like Delhi-NCR seeing a rise on Saturday, while Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh remained relatively stable. Rajasthan and CPCI also saw growth on Saturday, which is great as these circuits tend to be easier on Saturdays for films with good openings. There was a slight decline in the eastern circuits, some relief in terms of normalcy in circuits like Bihar, while West Bengal had a holiday on Friday and Saturday and came back to normal levels.
Overall, the second day has put the film in a much stronger position. The opening day was a little weaker than expectations, but this surge has resolved that. Sunday has started with a bang and the bucks should be clean. 40 crores, possibly Rs. 45 crores. Then there is a big national holiday for Republic Day on Monday, which will be another big day for the film. Tuesday and Wednesday’s stop will decide how high the film can ultimately reach. Currently, the Hindi film industry has got its first hit film of the year and it will probably be a big hit.
