Border 2 Box Office: Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty’s film shows momentum on the last day

Borderlands 2 is showing some momentum on the last day of the presale. The Sunny Deol-led War film has sold around 110K tickets across two national chains (PVR Inox and Cinepolis) till 9 pm. The last advance should clear 130K, for a possible final number of around 135K. The total opening day advance amount is currently around Rs. 8 crore nett and should end around Rs. 10 crore nett.

Although these are good progress, having said that, from a film like Borders 2, you expect much more than “good” progress.

In comparison, Gadar 2 had sold 274K tickets across the two national series and grossed Rs. ₹15 crore net advance for its opening day. While the number of tickets already sold is less than half of Gadar 2, the difference in terms of money is less as Borders 2 is releasing with “blockbuster ticket pricing” whereas Gadar 2 was released with normal ticket prices.

On the final day, progress will more than double, which is a very healthy trend and sets the tone for what is to come tomorrow. This is largely expected from a film like Border 2, which does well in smaller centers of the Hindi belt. These centers are not heavy on advances and rely far more on present and walk-up sales. Whatever advance they get comes mostly on the last day, closer to the release. It is expected that these centers will score huge in the current sale tomorrow.

Based on advances, Border 2 will cost around Rs. Expected to be collected. Earning of Rs 30 crore on the first day. With strong walk-up business it may move towards Rs. 35 crores nett. Pre-sales for Sunday and Monday are already going quite well. For the last three decades, the country has watched Border on its television sets on Republic Day. This year, they will have Border 2 to watch in theaters, and if the reception is successful, it’s going to be a big day.
