More than a year after its release, the director revealed that he had initially only told the basic idea of ​​the film to Superstar, and the first part of the story was fully narrated only after the first shooting schedule was completed.

Speaking at an award show, director Venkat Prabhu expressed his gratitude on receiving the Best Director award. During his speech the filmmaker said, “Making commercial films is extremely difficult. Making a film that everyone will like is a huge task. However, making a niche, content-based film also has its own challenges, but such films have a dedicated audience. However, commercial films provide a lot of room for criticism.”

“I thank Vijay sir for this film. Thalapathy was the first one to believe in the project. I only gave him the basic idea of ​​the film. He loved it and we started producing it immediately. The project was even announced. However, I narrated the first part of the story only after completing the first shooting schedule. He trusted me so much,” the director said (translated from Tamil).

Venkat Prabhu also thanked the Malaysian audience for making the film the highest grossing film there.
