Vadh 2 is an upcoming crime thriller which is set to release on screens on February 6, 2026. Starring Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta in the lead roles, the film is the sequel to Vadh, released in 2022, which was well received by the audience for its deep premise and powerful performances. Promising to further increase the intensity, Slaughter 2 is expected to deliver a similar experience. As anticipation grows around the release, producers Luv Ranjan Spoke exclusively to IHNS and shared some interesting details about the film and its world.
Vadh was a hair-raising film and the casting of Sanjay Mishra came as a surprise. What was the thought process behind choosing him for this role?
When you have an actor who has an image, you know what to expect. Correct? Slaughter, as a film and now as a franchise, is about a common man who you don’t expect to go a certain distance when pushed against a wall… and when he does, you don’t know what to expect. And that’s the fun of it.
Is Slaughter 2 a continuation of the story of the first film? What can we expect from the sequel?
This is not a true sequel. It doesn’t start from where the first part ended. This is a thematic sequel, and we basically haven’t touched the core element of the film. The grain is the same, the layers are the same. They are different characters, but their ideology is the same. For example, give give love 2 There was a true sequel. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 was a theme based sequel.
When will the trailer of Vadh 2 be released?
The trailer is releasing in theaters along with Border 2. It is going to be released digitally on 27th of this month.
Apart from Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, who else is in the cast of the film?
Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta are the faces of this franchise. We have very talented actors in the second one too. This is Kumud Mishra. He plays a very important role there. Then, we are also introducing some young actors, new actors, extremely talented people – Amit Singh, Akshay Dogra, Yugika Bihani, and then there is Shilpa Shukla, once again, in a very important, very interesting role. So this is a great cast.
Do you think that if Drishyam gets the kind of reception and reach it gets, Vadha too can turn into a Drishyam-like franchise over time?
Drishyam There is a huge franchise, and it is a true franchise. If you watch Drishyam 2, it is a sequel to the first part. I believe part 3 will also continue. I am not sure, because I am not the producer of that film. But that’s a different kind of franchise. This is a much bigger franchise. It is a far more successful franchise. And who wouldn’t want that? As a producer, I would definitely like Slaughter to become a hugely successful franchise, but that’s for the audience to decide.
