While the clip initially led to many speculations about the reason behind his sudden move, Roy later used Instagram Stories to explain the tragic experience he faced before and during his time on the platform.
According to the actress, she started feeling uneasy as soon as she reached the venue. While she was on stage, some male guests allegedly crossed personal boundaries in the name of taking photographs and placed their hands on her waist despite her objections. She indicated that she had verbally asked him to remove his hands, but his behavior upset her even before the performance began.
Things reportedly turned sour while she was on stage. Roy said two men stood right in front of the stage, made vulgar comments, made inappropriate hand gestures and called him insultingly. When she initially tried to signal them to stop, they reportedly responded by throwing roses towards the stage, making the situation more hostile rather than worse. This moment, he said, prompted him to leave the stage mid-performance due to shock and distress.
Adding to his woes, Roy pointed out that the stage was high and people were allegedly filming him from a low angle. When others attempted to intervene and ask them to stop, the men reportedly responded with verbal abuse. They also expressed disappointment that, despite repeated abuse, neither the organizers nor the family members present took steps to remove the men from the front lines.
Roy described the experience as humiliating and painful, stressing that artists attend such events as invited guests with the aim of contributing to celebrations such as weddings. He also highlighted a broader concern, noting that if established actors face such treatment, the situation could be much worse for newcomers to the industry.
