Expecting it to be one dessert item per table, he decided to give a piece to his co-star Steve Martin, who was about to leave, but everyone started yelling at him. He shared, “‘Oh Steve, you can’t go’ – I had a fork in my hand. ‘You can’t go yet without a piece of wedding cake.’ And I cut the wedding cake from one side and cut it from the other side.” It appears that she also tried to fix it with a fork, which made the situation even worse.
After learning that it was actually the wedding cake that the couple was to cut, he agreed to take the day off and warned everyone not to inform bride Selena Gomez until at least a month after that day. Speaking about how the corrective action was ultimately taken, he said, “They called the wedding coordinator, and then the cook came out.”
